Name Lark // Timi
Age A year and a bit (is aging in Aather).
Team Tiger's Eye.

Height/Build Has grown in Aather from the size of a housecat to about the size of a Great Dane! Still quite light for her size, but very strong.
Hair Color/Eye Color Feathers and fur are varied red-gold-brown, as depicted in icons.
Notable Traits Fluffy baby female griffin. Sounds like a young girl.

For post-good end Aather visits, she wears two collars: one is a white-gold bracelet engraved with a snake, formerly a memory item; the other is silver set with a Tiger's Eye, the token Beauty gave to restore the last of her missing memories. She also has a satchel slung on her back between her wings.

Other Can't eat meat. Can climb, and is very nimble; can also fly. Zero magical/supernatural pings!

*if you are Tiger's Eye, Iolite, Kanji, or Viola, Lark left a candle for you to get in touch with her sometimes! feel free to use this post at any time for that.*

((as with Kite's, feel free to tag here even if she didn't give you a candle -- she asked Tiger's Eye and Viola at least to share them with other team people/knights! please just let them know OOC ♥))
reachforthesky: (pearlescent.)
* Realizing Jon is alive. Finally taking flight. "Dear Timi, you may."

excerpt )

+ Overcoming her fear of heights and the sky for good.
+ . . . ♥
reachforthesky: (blackbird.)
* The Black Grandfather chucking Carving Knife in the river. (significant neutral, shareable)

excerpt )

+ I'M GLAD NO ONE DIED.
reachforthesky: (pearlescent.)
* "This is a Griffin wind. I wonder when--" (trivial neutral)

excerpt )

+ Doesn't imply that Griffins have wind magic so much as some instinctive knowledge of seasonal/weather patterns, which Lark gains from this memory.
+ MOMENT OF IMPENDING CHOICE MIDBOOK ha ha ha how well-timed. Timi's mood in this memory is the same mood Lark's starting to get into in Aather. Where does she go when she's done here? Who does she choose to stay with? Oh no, oh no.
reachforthesky: (o give me a home.)
* The Black Grandfather's speech; being abandoned by the Griffin flock. (significant negative, shareable)

excerpt. )

+ Well that sucked but it was also kind of her fault and she turned out okay!!

+ A-and another note: Zack's heart . . . jolted Lark into being able to fly early . . . she is still terrified of it but not so terrified she won't do it if she needs to anymore. HILARITY.
reachforthesky: (our own true way.)
* Blundering into the Palace kitchens. Carving Knife. Being told Jon is dead. (significant negative, shareable)

excerpt. )

+ 8|
+ 8|!!!
+ While this memory is mitigated by later ones (Jon Dumpling wasn't really dead!) she'll still be pretty sad for a while after taking it.
+ Extreme aversion to being tied up or held down.
reachforthesky: (il est mangé tous les poissons!)
* Flying.

OH NO GUYS IT'S A DUD

Which is to say, Lark now has full use of her wings and the ability to fly but doesn't know it and can't be induced to try. She'll fly once she regains her final memory, though.
reachforthesky: (il est mangé tous les poissons!)
* The tiny apple dumpling. Setting out for the Palace to help Jon. (significant neutral, shareable)

excerpt )

+ IF A THING MUST BE DONE GET OUT AND DO IT HOWEVER YOU CAN :|b

-

* Falling out of the nest when very young. Being retrieved by the Black Grandfather. (significant negative, shareable)

excerpt )

+ Oh that's why I can't fly :( Mystery solved...
+ Bodylanguage-wise, she already goes around often with her wings as flat against her back as she can make them a lot; this will become a lot more pronounced.
+ Also no more of her (admittedly already rare) attempts to practice flying.
+ A definite problem with heights -- she climbs trees and cabins just fine, but something like the cliff is just terrifying.
+ Pretty flat avoidance of the topic: if anyone brings up her wings and if she can fly or not, expect to be gently rebuffed.

-

* Dusting and cleaning.

And then Tiger's Eye was never dirty again.
reachforthesky: (o give me a home.)
* Orphaned. (significant negative, shareable)

This is just a memory of being in the Griffin nest as a baby! Runt of the litter. Knowledge that she didn't have anyone in the flock to look to -- except perhaps the Black Grandfather -- because both of her parents were dead.

+ 100 familyfamilyfamilybawwwfamily.
+ A few days of clinginess to Tiger's Eye and her favorite knights, following them around and stalking them extensively and sleeping in their beds and generally being kind of a nuisance, rather than doing her own thing like she usually does.
reachforthesky: (gang aft agley.)
* The Griffin flock returns. Altercation between Carving Knife, Jon, and the Queen. (significant neutral, shareable)

excerpt )

* The Dragon offering proof to the Queen. (significant positive)

excerpt )

* Watching the Emperor arrive. Sneezing fit. Conversing with the Imperial Dragon. (significant neutral, shareable)

excerpt )

* "Come and see us sometimes!" (significant positive, shareable)

excerpt )

+ These might have had different effects if they were taken spread out as was originally intended, but she took all four in succession (and in worst memory -> best memory order, too), so what happened is A LOT OF MOOD WHIPLASH and A LOT OF HOLES IN HER STORY FILLED IN.
+ The two sig neutrals are actually times when her situation was improving; meeting the Imperial Dragon was a good thing, and so was finding that Jon was alive! What makes them so awful is how crippled and passive she was during both--she sees now that being too terrified to speak up for herself led to the bad situation going on and on.
+ To reinforce that, the two sig positives are someone speaking for her, and the excellent results of finally standing up for herself. In the first the Queen stopped believing lies, and in the second she was allowed to choose where she wanted to live. LESSON LEARNED.
+ Timi will be a lot less afraid to speak her mind, and while forcing the issue was a brutal way to tackle it, the '4 x fear of memories' effect from her heartgame is about 75% repaired. She will still be fidgety and balky about it, but it won't paralyze her anymore.
+ She is now aware that ... well, there are very few gaps in her memory left! So she'll probably be a little more low-key and sad, now, because she's facing up to the possibility that she might go home soon.

* 'Common language' understood by all mythical beasts.

WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN! The only ones who should be able to automatically understand her when she speaks it right now are Temeraire, Perscitia, Mikage in his babydragon form, and Personae. Everyone else she'll have to teach. :Da It's something she can do with all 'traditional' mythical beasts--griffins, dragons, unicorns, phoenixes, etc.

It sounds weirdly formal and there are also a lot of animal noises in it! A little unsettling to listen to.

HEARTGAME WRITEUP )

TELL ME IF I MISSED STUFF, ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU'RE CURIOUS, ETC. ETC. \|D/
reachforthesky: (Default)
Blackmail by Carving Knife. Dipping in flour and soot to replace the stone eagle. (significant negative, shareable)

excerpt. )

+ Plus 500 depression points--except these will mostly be negated because she has memories of this situation being more or less resolved. Jon Dumpling was okay, etc. etc.
+ After taking this memory, Timi will have a much smaller capacity for emotional blackmail! She will take a good deal of physical pain over it. Which...will change her attitude during bad games.
+ This memory is also important because she reacts with hatred to something, rather than just fear and cowardice! Hate is pretty foreign to her in canon before then, and Aather!Timi hasn't hated before. O...oops she accidentally darker emotions.
reachforthesky: (not if it's bitter.)
* Jon's failed attempts to teach her to fly. (trivial negative)

excerpt. )

+ Bawww Jon so good to me ;o;
+ Just a extra heaping dose of 'wrugh' about her useless wings.
reachforthesky: (red sky at night.)
* Jon's silver chain; talking about China. (trivial positive)

excerpt. )

+ Pretty decent memory! Talking about information that she's mostly already aware of through previous memories, actually. But there is never any harm in more memories of chilling out with Jon.
+ A lot of sick unhappiness around the 'yeah I still can't fly' part, though.
reachforthesky: (what dreams may come.)
* Defying the Black Grandfather to stay with Jon. (significant neutral)

excerpt. )

+ HELLO THERE BLACK GRANDFATHER!
+ PLUS FIVE THOUSAND PUNCH OF COURAGE AND COPING AND NOT RUNNING AWAY FROM HER PROBLEMS!!!
+ The statement that she finally can fly is blurred out of this memory.
reachforthesky: (Default)
* The smell of new bread. "Good afternoon, Dragon." (significant neutral, shareable)

excerpt. )

+ Pretty mixed! On the one hand, a new memory of Jonathan's kindness is good for reinforcing her; on the other, she now knows why she was abandoned--her fear of flying--and that kind of ties in to her uselessness issues.
+ What with the team thing going on right now, she may well binge her three untaken memories all at once, flee the cabin, and then hole up in/near the library for a couple of days. Too many sads!!
reachforthesky: (Default)
* “Tell me, Timi—to whom do you belong?” (significant negative, shareable)

excerpt. )

+ This is literally the most conflicted moment of Timi's life. FEELINGS!
+ She might hide in a tree for a while after this one.
+ When she gets over it a little bit she'll realize that Jon Dumpling is alive and okay!
+ Queens are people too. Even less regard for fancy titles than she had before.
+ She knows her real name! She might stick to being 'Lark' in Aather, though, since it has much more positive meaning than 'Timi.'

* The Queen's cup. (trivial neutral)

excerpt. )

+ WHOOPS THIS MEMORY BRINGS BACK HER FEAR OF FLYING.
+ And knowing why her wings are useless.
+ It's maybe the easiest way to get that back, though--a quiet acknowledgement of the issue instead of the bad memory of what triggered it in the first place. She probably won't talk about it! But attempts to get her to use her wings properly will be even more useless than before, and she's certainly not going to try jumping off high places to make them work like she did before.
